Support for parents

  /    /  Support for parents

SAFE! provides distinct support to parents and caregivers across all of our services. This includes support delivered both 121 and in groups online.

Who we support

We can provide support to any parent or caregiver living in the Thames Valley, where they have a child who has had an experience of crime or abuse, or where the family is experiencing Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse.

How we support

Caregivers’ groups

The caregivers group provides support for parents and caregivers who need space to talk, time to reflect, connection with other caregivers, and support to consider ways to focus on their own needs.

Caregivers can join a group in the daytime, or the evening.  They run online over 5 sessions on Tuesdays.  The morning group from 10:00am – 11:30am and the evening group from 7pm- 8:30pm.

Session 1:  Welcome – Embracing Change

Session 2:  Self-Care – Five Self-Care Strategies to look after Yourself

Session 3:  Connect – Building Stronger Families

Session 4:  Discover – How to Better Communicate with Your Family

Session 5:  Breathe – Manage Emotions such as Stress and Overwhelm

One to one support

Where parents and caregivers cannot access a group but would still like support, a parent support practitioner can help you with:

  • Discussing your wellbeing needs
  • Creating time for you
  • Coping with challenges
  • Responding to your child’s changing needs
  • Information, advice & guidance
