Stay SAFE!

At SAFE! there is no one way that we will work with children and young people who are seeking support.

We have a range of different services available, and each intervention plan will be tailored to need, and led by what a young person tells us.

SAFE! has resources in a special site that looks at some of the problems faced by young people online called Safe Stories.

Frequently asked questions

It really depends on the type of support you need. This could be project work for 6 to 12 sessions, a groupwork programme lasting 6 to 8 weeks, counselling for 12 weeks or a whole family programme for longer. If you are involved in a criminal justice process, we can offer you support for as long as that takes.

We provide you with a safe, confidential space to talk about how you’re feeling, and we make sure to build a trusting relationship with you, so that you feel able to make the most of your sessions. Our staff can offer advice on coping with your feelings and rebuilding your sense of self-esteem and confidence.

Anything at all! You can talk about what brought you to SAFE! in as much or as little detail as you’d like. We understand that some people find it hard to open up initially, so please don’t worry if you find it difficult to talk about anything.

The length of our waiting lists can vary depending on several factors, including the area you live in, staff availability, and the number of people accessing our service at any one time. Once we have received a request for help for you, someone will be in touch soon, and they can give you more information about when your support might start.

Yes, we have online support available to anyone on our waiting list. We send details of this as soon as we accept your referral. This includes access to webinars, drop-in sessions, and our text support service.

You may ask to be reallocated to a different practitioner, but please be aware that you may have to wait for someone to become available.

You can stop your sessions at any time you’d like. If you have any remaining sessions, you will be entitled to these if you decide you’d like to re-refer into our service later on.
