SASH is a partnership project providing support to children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual harm. This project is funded by Buckinghamshire Council to bring together specialist and established services from SAASSBMK and SAFE!
Who we support
SASH provides voluntary support to Children, and Young People in Buckinghamshire aged 5 to 18 years who have been affected by rape, sexual assault, and domestic abuse. Referrals made through our online portal can be made by the young person, their family or a professional
How we support
SASH provides a responsive, individually tailored specialist support service to children and young people who have experienced sexual harm or domestic abuse.
Following the referral, an initial assessment will be undertaken by the SAFE! team to ensure we understand the needs of the child/ young person and can offer suitable support.
This support includes:
- Counselling – an initial offer of 12 1:1 counselling sessions which will be reviewed and increased if required, we use a trauma informed approach alongside psychoeducation to help young people understand, process and make positive steps forward in their life.
- Project Work – offering between 6 and 12 1:1 project work sessions exploring Protective Behaviours, healthy relationships, self esteem and coping strategies.
- 1:1 support for the parent/ carer allowing them space to talk to a professional about the impact the sexual harm or domestic abuse has had on their child and the wider family.
Whilst accessing SASH, the young person will be able to access other SAFE! support such as digital and text support, group work and ChIDSVA support.
SASH Bucks is a service run in partnership SAASS BMK, and funded through a grant agreement with Buckinghamshire County Council.
