SAFE! is here for YOU
At SAFE! we work for the children and young people who need us, and that means it is your choice whether or not you want support. We will talk to you about what you would like to get out of working with us, and think together about the kind of support you need. You can decide to stop sessions whenever you want.
Confidentiality
During your sessions you should feel able to talk about anything in confidence. Everything that you say during SAFE! sessions is private and won’t be shared with anyone else without your permission.
The only time we will have to tell someone else is if you tell us about something that makes us worry that you or someone else is in danger or at risk of harm. We will always try to tell you first if we have to share this information.
There may be other times when you might ask us to share information with other people, such as your parents/carers or school. If someone asks us to share information about you with someone like school, we will ask you first.
Data Protection
We will keep a brief record of your sessions and any correspondence with SAFE! along with your personal information. This is to help us plan sessions and remember what we have done together. These notes are stored securely on the SAFE! computer system. They are your notes and you can ask to see them during or after our sessions have ended. We will store them securely for ten years, after which they will be safely destroyed.
If there is an ongoing investigation, sometimes other agencies may ask to see your records, such as the police or a criminal or family court. We will always attempt to contact you to let you know if your case notes have been requested, and will only share the necessary records, or a brief summary of facts around your support.
