Volunteering with SAFE! means being part of an organisation that cares. We work to create safe, positive environments for young people who’ve experienced the impact of crime — and our volunteers help make that possible.
Whether you want to lend your time, your talents, or your lived experience, there’s a place for you here.
What You Can Gain
Here’s what you might take away:
- Be part of something meaningful — helping create safer spaces for young people and their families
- Build experience in community work, safeguarding awareness, and youth support services
- Grow your confidence and skills, with access to training and team guidance
- Meet like-minded people and feel connected to a cause that matters
- You have a chance to gain new skills or improve existing ones
Ways You Can Get Involved
We offer a range of volunteering opportunities that support our work from behind the scenes or within group settings. Some of the areas you could help with include:
Workshops & Group Sessions
Support the delivery of creative or educational sessions for young people — from helping with set-up and resources to assisting facilitators during activities.
Awareness & Outreach Support
Help spread the word about SAFE! in your local community — distributing materials, attending events, or helping us connect with schools and partnership organisations.
Events & Fundraising
Join our team during community events, awareness days, or fundraising efforts. Your help might involve organising materials, managing sign-ins, or simply bringing a positive presence to the day.
Practical Support
Lend a hand with the logistics that keep us running — from preparing resources to supporting our social media or helping with admin tasks in the background.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life. You don’t need specific qualifications — just:
- A commitment to supporting young people
- A respectful, reliable, and non-judgemental attitude
- An interest in community and positive change
- The ability to work as part of a team
We’ll provide training and guidance — all we ask is that you bring your energy, openness, and a willingness to help where you can.
Each SAFE! Volunteer is different, we have lots of different options depending on how much time you can give, whether it’s a one off, short term or long-term commitment.
If an opportunity does need certain skills, we’ll outline what they are through a discussion or description on the website.
Most opportunities will involve and start off with an informal chat giving you the opportunity to get to know more about SAFE!
You don’t need any formal experience, just your time, energy, and a willingness to get involved.
At SAFE! even the quietest contributions echo loudly. If you’re ready to be part of something that matters — even in the background — we’d love to hear from you.
